Staying Tuned In to a Changing Business Environment – March 2021

During the past year, it seemed the pandemic brought the comforting familiarities of both ordinary and remarkable days to a standstill. But life is always moving forward, and the challenges, tragedies, and fears regarding health and safety that have stressed individuals, families, companies, and governments hasn’t stopped amusement attraction professionals from making new operational plans.
Each issue of Tourist Attractions & Parks (TAP) gives its readers, who are company owners and managers throughout the United States, a chance to stay in touch with one another and improve their operations. During 2020, and now in 2021, as all types of leisure entertainment facilities have faced the tension of pandemic-required closures, restrictions, and conditional re-openings, TAP’s Contributors have kept the lines of communication open with attraction professionals. The resulting stories provide operational insights our readership can relate to, connect with, and draw on going forward.
This is our annual Buyer’s Guide edition, and the Guide gives a selection of companies a chance to bring further attention to their businesses by being listed in the feature. And don’t miss Part 2 of our two-part series on diversity in the amusement business by industry expert Kevin Williams.
Contributor Chad Emerson’s Large Park Report tackles the subject of new attractions at seven large parks. And Contributor Genie Davis looks at the maintenance and upgrade picture at two smaller parks in Oregon and Pennsylvania, while Contributor Karen Appold, in the Waves waterpark section, looks at how a selection of attractions are handling the 2021 season.
In our Entertainment Center Report, Contributors Hilary Danailova and Carime Lane cover bowling and laser tag centers, miniature golf and go-kart attractions, and trampoline parks. Our writers also offer stories on the best-run FEC arcades, the coin-op business, food service at amusement parks, escape room trends, and more.
I hope you enjoy the issue. Please contact me with your comments, questions, or suggestions by emailing, calling 610-645-6940, or messaging me on the TAP Facebook page.
