Global Safety Standards Group ASTM F24 to Hold Meetings in Florida

ASTM F24, the committee on amusement rides and attractions that produces global safety standards for the amusement industry, will be holding three days of meetings from Wednesday, February 12 through Saturday February 15, 2014 at the Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.    Approximately 50 separate meetings attended by about 250 will be held. Each meeting will focus on a specific safety element of the amusement industry. Meetings are open to both members and non-members of ASTM.

For the second time, a networking event has been added on Wednesday evening that is open to all attendees.  First-time attendees are especially encouraged to come to this event to meet committee heads and learn about the different task groups.

Since the fall meeting, extensive work has been accomplished including the formal publishing of a number of new standards.  Additionally, there were F24 meetings held at the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando, Fla., late last year on important subjects such as ride accessibility.

ASTM Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices was formed in 1978. F24 works year round using ASTM’s Virtual Meeting online technology and meets face-to-face twice a year, usually in February and October, typically with over 250 attendees from around the world attending several days of technical meetings.
