New Ideas for a New Year

January 1, 2014 No Comments

It is with optimism for the leisure entertainment industry that we look ahead to a new year. Tourist Attractions & Parks has been covering the amusement industry for over 40 years, and the magazine never stops innovating in its efforts to keep in touch with the many segments of the markets in its coverage universe. In this the first issue of 2014, we offer several unique sections.

In a special insurance section, we present stories on trends for amusement rental and inflatables businesses, keeping children safe in bounce houses and becoming a well-informed insurance buyer. The stories are in addition to insurance product news features.

A vacation to a large park is an event of a lifetime for many families. In this issue’s Large Park Report, our Contributor Chad Emerson offers a look at new rides that will be appearing at the country’s major parks in 2014.

Another one-of-a-kind experience awaits guests at a New Hampshire attraction, where the country’s first indoor surf park is opening. Surf’s Up, at the SkyVenture indoor skydiving attraction, is breaking barriers as the first of its kind. The husband-and-wife team who own the attraction wanted the Surf’s Up experience to be as realistic as possible, and turned to the American Wave Machines and OpenAire companies to make their dream a reality. You can read all about this new attraction in the Waves section.

We also offer articles on an agricultural haunt in Baker, Fla., project financing, trends in coin-op ticketing and penny press machines and news from the 2013 IAAPA Attractions Expo.

These informative features are in addition to our annual carnival and fair industry stories in recognition of the International Independent Showmen’s Association, Inc., or Gibtown Showman’s Club, Super Trade Show and Extravaganza. The show is in its 46th year and is slated for early February in Florida.

We highly value the insights and opinions of our readership, and want to hear from you about what is right, as well as what needs improvement, with our publication. Please email your thoughts and ideas to: editortapmag@kanec.com.
