Nagashima SpaLand Japan Opens Laser Star’s Coin-Operated Western Shooting Gallery

photo (65)In July 2013, Laser Star Amusement completed the installation of a 20-player, coin- operated, 62-target traditional electronic shooting gallery at Nagashima Spaland. The gallery was installed as a supplemental attraction. The 54 linear feet of western themed gallery occupies the underutilized space beneath the foundation of the “Pirate Jumbo Viking” ride.
Nagashima Spaland  is Japan’s fourth largest amusement park and is the home of the world’s longest roller coaster, Steel Dragon 2000.  The park is owned by the Otani Family.  The complex, called the Nagashima Resort, consists of an amusement park, waterpark, outlet park and children’s museum and park, with supporting hotels on the property.
“The Western Shooting Gallery is one of our most popular galleries,” said Laser Star President Dr. David Peretz. “It was a pleasure working with the staff of Nagashima SpaLand to design a truly unique amusement attraction for its guests.”  The set consisted of a Western Town complete with a Stable, Jail, Saloon, General Store and Hotel.  The system uses Safe laser rifles that shoot electronic shots at targets.  When a target is hit, it activates a special effect such as animations, lighting and sounds.
The controls use a Windows-based system to provide target hit sounds and individualized scoring back to each player’s station. The installation and training was completed in one week on location. The entire gallery was first manufactured, assembled and tested at Laser Star before shipping to Japan.  The Laser Star staff met the container on delivery to Nagashima SpaLand where they installed the attraction and trained the staff.
Laser Star has been manufacturing and operating coin-operated shooting galleries since 1992. In addition, Laser Star manufactures and engineers Dark Ride Shooting and Targeting Systems, as well Projection Shooting Galleries.
