Shirley, It was great hearing from you. I'm pleased that you liked this Blog. It is interesting to me to discover where new management lessons come from. I am constantly on the look-out for new lessons and stories to share with others. I was so surprised that those two officers were as skittish as they were. It was an educational event. Hope all is well with you.

Thanks for checking in. Sometimes a gentle guiding hand is all the worker needs to learn and be set upon the right track. Thanks.

It is amazing what an experienced manager versus a “newbie” will usually do when the “old guy” is allowed to take a moment to access the situation before “pulling the trigger.” More than a few times I have had a young employee running into my office, ready to torpedo a situation, when a little rational thinking was all that was really needed. Experience usually does provide the foundation for making the best decisions.
