Stoelting Teams Up with Discovery Ice Cream to Create Robotic Dessert Experience

Stoelting Foodservice Equipment has collaborated with Discovery Ice Cream to offer a new experience in ice cream consumption. The Discovery Ice Cream Robotic kiosks have been developed over a five-year period by a diverse team of leading engineers, innovators and robotics and ice cream experts. With this new collaboration between Stoelting and Discovery Ice Cream, more units are being built and tested and are soon to be launched in kid-friendly environments such as amusements parks, arcades and museums.
Discovery Ice Cream kiosks allow children to design their own six-layer ice cream and candy treat on a touch screen. Patrons just push “Go” and watch a robot prepare their treat in two minutes. The experience is further customized by the robotic character that is chosen to help prepare the treat. It is completely self-contained, including the cup, and plays robotic music during the performance. The kiosks, in addition to giving kids control of the design and customization of their own treat, gives them access to a real robot that they program by using the interactive touch screen. Discovery Ice Cream offers the only robotic ice cream machines in the world.
The Discovery Ice Cream kiosk was on display and running demonstrations at the 2010 IAAPA Attractions Expo last November.
